Change of Plans

Dear Lagniappe Family and Friends

As you may have noticed we did not speak at all about gun violence -- we spoke about the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. -- with our special guest William Young from Democrats Abroad Global Black Caucus who not only shared with us Martin Luther King's Legacy, but how religion and politics have been at odds with policies and now as partners with the Evangelicals -- as we see now with the current administration. God help us all...in the meantime. Enjoy the show!

Who's in the photo? That's just as important as credits -- you gotta know who the allies are: First row from left: singer, actor, and civil rights leader Harry Belafonte; King's daughter Yolanda; King's sons, Martin III and Dexter; King's widow, Coretta Scott King; Reverend Ralph Abernathy; Reverend Andrew Young; and Rabbi Abraham Heschel. Second row, beginning right of Yolanda: Bishop B. Julian Smith of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church; AFSCME President Jerry Wurf; civil rights leader Bayard Rustin; May Reuther and her husband, UAW President Walter Reuther; and AFL-CIO Civil Rights Director Don Slaiman. (in short you have Actors, The LGBT community, HBCU's, Labor Movement (Unions), and the Jewish community and all of these people made up the body of the church...just thought it should be noted)
